Ursuline College sophomore Nicole Burlinson has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season, the conference office announced Tuesday (Feb. 11) afternoon.
Burlinson received the honor for her performance at the Division II Challenge Meet, hosted by the SPIRE Institute on Saturday (Feb. 8).
She beat the other 26 participants in the mile with a school record time of 5:07.50. She was previously the record holder with her 5:09.31 at Youngstown State two weeks ago. Saturday’s time was just 2.5 seconds shy of the NCAA Division II provisional qualification standard.
Burlinson also took the title from the other 10 runners in the 600 meter run when she crossed the finish line in 1:36.43. She won by 5.24 seconds and the next five runners all finished within 4.14 seconds of each other.
She also ran on the 4×400 team that finished in 4:07.30 which was good for seventh of 14 teams. The time was just one-tenth of a second off the fifth-best time in program history.
